Installation Guide

Set up FFL Finder on your store

Follow these steps to add FFL Finder to your online store, configure your dealers, and turn on identity verification and AB 1263 compliance. Most shops are up and running the same day.

Before you begin

  • An active WBT Web Solutions account (request access if you don't have one).
  • Administrator access to your online store.
  • Your store platform — FFL Finder supports [list your supported platforms, e.g. BigCommerce, Shopify, WooCommerce, custom].
  • A valid Google Maps API key if your plan requires you to supply your own [confirm whether WBT provides this or the dealer does].

1 Create your WBT account

Sign in at the customer login page, or request access by emailing support@wbtwebsolutions.com. Once your account is active, log in to access your dashboard and installation credentials.

2 Install FFL Finder on your store

Installation depends on your platform. Follow the section that matches your store:

App marketplace install

If FFL Finder is available in your platform's app marketplace, search for "FFL Finder by WBT", click Install, and approve the requested permissions. [Insert exact marketplace name and listing URL.]

Manual / embed install

For custom stores, add the FFL Finder script to your checkout template where indicated in your dashboard, for example:

<script src="https://cdn.wbtwebsolutions.com/ffl-finder.js" data-store="YOUR_STORE_ID"></script> [replace with your real embed snippet]

ℹ️Not sure which applies? Your dashboard shows the exact install method and snippet for your plan. Our team can also install it for you — just open a support request.

3 Connect your store & add your key

In your WBT dashboard, open Settings → Store connection and confirm your store is linked. If your plan uses your own Google Maps API key, paste it under Settings → Map provider so dealer search can display the map and radius results.

4 Add your preferred dealers

Preferred dealers appear at the top of customer search results. Go to Dealers → Preferred and add the FFLs you want to prioritize (for example, your own locations or partner shops). You can reorder them to control priority.

Tip: Add at least one preferred dealer before going live so customers always have a clear first option.

5 Turn on the ID Checker

Under Settings → ID Checker, enable identity and age verification for regulated items. Choose which product categories trigger a check and set the minimum age requirement for your jurisdiction(s). Verification then runs automatically for qualifying orders during checkout.

6 Enable AB 1263 compliance

If you ship to California, open Settings → Compliance → AB 1263 and turn on the California workflow. This adds the required buyer warning, attestation, and 18+ age verification to qualifying California orders. AB 1263 takes effect January 1, 2026.

⚖️These features support your compliance efforts but do not guarantee compliance. Confirm your obligations with legal counsel — see our Terms of Service.

7 Test in checkout

Place a test order with an FFL-required item. Confirm that: the finder opens automatically, the map and radius search return nearby dealers, your preferred dealer appears first, the ID Checker prompts as expected, and any AB 1263 steps appear for California orders. Fix configuration under the relevant Settings panel if anything looks off.

8 Go live

Once your test order looks right, switch the integration to Live in Settings → Status. Your customers will now see FFL Finder at checkout. That's it — you're live.

Troubleshooting

The finder doesn't appear at checkout. Confirm the app/snippet is installed on the correct checkout template and that the integration status is Live. Clear your cache and retry a test order.

No dealers show on the map. Check that your Google Maps API key is valid and that map/places services are enabled for it.

ID Checker or AB 1263 steps aren't showing. Verify the triggering product categories and shipping regions in Settings.
