Using FFL Finder day to day

Everything you need to run FFL Finder after it's installed — from how the customer experience works to managing dealers, verifying IDs, and staying compliant.

Overview

FFL Finder is a checkout tool for online firearms retailers. When a customer buys an item that requires a transfer, FFL Finder helps them locate and select a licensed FFL dealer on an interactive map — and runs identity verification and California compliance steps in the same flow. This guide covers how you manage and use it once it's live on your store.

The customer experience

Here's what your customers see when they check out with an FFL-required item:

1

Checkout opens

The finder appears automatically for regulated items.

2

Find & verify

They enter a ZIP, pick a dealer, and complete ID/age checks.

3

Order ships

The order is tied to the chosen FFL for a compliant transfer.

Your preferred dealers always appear at the top of the results, so customers see your priority options first.

Your dashboard

After you sign in, your dashboard is home base. From here you can manage dealers, adjust ID Checker and compliance settings, review orders and the dealer each customer selected, and manage your account. Key areas live under Dealers, Settings, and Orders. [Adjust these section names to match your actual dashboard.]

Managing dealers

Preferred dealers

Go to Dealers → Preferred to add, remove, or reorder the FFLs you want prioritized in search results. Reordering controls which dealer shows first. This is the best lever you have for steering transfers toward your own locations or partners.

How search results work

When a customer enters a ZIP code, FFL Finder returns licensed dealers within the search radius on a map, with your preferred dealers pinned to the top. Customers can widen the radius if they want more options.

Best practice: Keep at least one preferred dealer active at all times so there's always a clear first choice.

Using the ID Checker

The ID Checker verifies a buyer's identity and confirms they meet the age requirement during checkout, so every regulated order is tied to a confirmed, eligible customer before it ships. Manage it under Settings → ID Checker, where you can set which product categories require a check and the minimum age for your jurisdiction(s).

Verification runs automatically for qualifying orders — there's nothing your customer needs to install, and no separate service to manage.

AB 1263 & compliance

For orders shipping to California, FFL Finder can add the buyer warning, attestation, and 18+ age verification that AB 1263 requires (effective January 1, 2026). Turn this on under Settings → Compliance → AB 1263. The steps appear only for qualifying California orders, so customers elsewhere aren't affected.

⚖️These features support your compliance efforts but do not replace legal advice or guarantee compliance. Confirm your obligations with counsel — see our Terms of Service.

Orders & dealer selections

Under Orders, you can see each transfer order along with the dealer the customer selected and the status of any ID/compliance steps. Use this to reconcile transfers, follow up with dealers, and keep your records straight. [Describe any export or reporting options your product offers.]

Account & billing

Manage your plan, payment method, and users under Settings → Account. To change plans or add seats, update your details there or reach out to support. For questions about pricing, email support@wbtwebsolutions.com.
