Overview
WBT FFL Finder is a checkout tool for online firearms retailers. When a customer buys an item that requires a transfer, WBT FFL Finder helps them locate and select a licensed FFL dealer on an interactive map — and runs identity verification and California compliance steps in the same flow. This guide covers how you manage and use it once it's live on your store.
The customer experience
Here's what your customers see when they check out with an FFL-required item:
Checkout opens
The finder appears automatically for regulated items.

Your dashboard
After you sign in, your dashboard is home base. From here you can manage dealers, map your product categories, set your compliance profile, adjust ID verification, fees, and tax, and review orders and the dealer each customer selected. Key areas live under Dealers, Settings, and Orders.
Managing dealers
Preferred dealers
Go to Dealers → Preferred to add, remove, or reorder the FFLs you want prioritized in search results. Reordering controls which dealer shows first. This is the best lever you have for steering transfers toward your own locations or partners.
How search results work
When a customer enters a ZIP code, WBT FFL Finder returns licensed dealers within the search radius on a map, with your preferred dealers pinned to the top. Customers can widen the radius if they want more options.
Using ID verification
Where a regulation such as California AB 1263 applies, WBT FFL Finder captures the buyer's acknowledgment of the required notice, a photo of their government-issued ID, and a signature during checkout, and stores it securely for your compliance records. Manage it under Settings → ID Verification, where you choose the provider and how staff receive the ID — attached to the order email, a secure link, or storage-only.
Verification runs automatically for qualifying orders — there's nothing your customer needs to install, and no separate service to manage.
AB 1263 & compliance
For California orders, WBT FFL Finder adds the buyer warning, attestation, and ID/age verification that AB 1263 requires (in effect since January 1, 2026), and applies the 11% state excise. These turn on when your compliance profile is set to California, and switch off for stores on other profiles — so customers elsewhere aren't affected.
Orders & dealer selections
Under Orders, you can see each transfer order along with the dealer the customer selected and the status of any ID/compliance steps. Use this to reconcile transfers, follow up with dealers, and keep your records straight. Each order's selection, chosen dealer, and any AB 1263 verification are also recorded in the order's staff notes and a hidden order metafield for your fulfillment records.
Account & billing

Tips & best practices
- Keep your preferred dealer list current so customers always see your priority options.
- Place a periodic test order to confirm the finder, ID verification, fees, and compliance steps all behave as expected.
- Review your category mapping whenever you add new product types, so each item lands in the right class.
- If you sell into California, confirm your compliance profile is set to California so AB 1263 and excise stay active.
